"Well, well, well, look who the cat dragged in?"

Earl Victor Hansen was a serial arsonist and mass murderer who appeared in "Heated".

BackgroundEdit

Born in San Diego, California, Hansen was a pyromaniac who wracked up a criminal record for starting minor fires ever since he was at a young age. When he turned eighteen, he joined a local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan only because he was fascinated by their arson attacks during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement and had hoped they would satisfy his desires to set fires. However, Hansen became disillusioned with their modern methods and left weeks later. On August 2003, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for setting fire to a newly-constructed apartment building that damaged several floors. After his release on December 2013, Hansen moved to San Francisco, where he began an arson spree. The BAU was called in to investigate after his ninth fire killed a couple sleeping in their home. Hansen then began escalating, setting fires to two occupied buildings: a local restaurant and a nightclub, which resulted in a large number of fatalities. He was then apprehended by Hotch and Rossi after they caught him watching the aftermath of the nightclub fire, which was particularly devastating.

Modus OperandiEdit

Hansen targeted buildings he previously worked at through his jobs as laborers, specifically those that had faulty fire alarm or ceiling sprinkler systems. He would douse the areas he wanted to set ablaze with gasoline, then light the fires by dropping lit road-flares onto them. During his attacks on the restaurant and the nightclub, he locked all of the side-exits and set the fires at the main entrances.

ProfileEdit

The official profile made of Hansen by the BAU was never specified, though he was briefly described as a pyromaniac who was constantly enthralled by the sight of fire and treating it as a weapon of mass destruction.
